A passenger of Spirit Airlines attacked multiple flight attendants, hitting one and tugging the hair of another, was secured with zip ties by fellow passengers and accused of public intoxication on Saturday.
Zip-Tied By Fellow Passenger
The incident happened Saturday night on a flight from Fort Lauderdale to Nashville.
Amanda Henry, 42, purportedly caused a commotion mid-flight by punching one attendant and pulling another’s hair, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by WKRN.
A fellow passenger ultimately immobilized Henry by binding her feet together with zip ties.
Officers untied her, but she was incapable of walking on her own and needed assistance exiting the plane.
Henry’s eyes were bloodshot, and the police could smell the stench of alcohol as they tried to carry her off the plane.
When asked how much she had to drink, she replied, “a lot”.
She screamed obscenities at the police while being detained for public intoxication, yelling “I didn’t do anything wrong” and “shoot me,” and stiffened her legs in the police car to prevent officers from shutting the door.
The woman posted bail and was discharged on Sunday morning.
As a result, she was blacklisted from flying with Spirit Airlines for life.
The flight attendants who were allegedly assaulted by Henry told the police they did not want to press charges.
The airline, on the other hand, takes a different approach, stating:
“We will work with the relevant authorities to ensure this individual is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
Should the flight attendants have pressed charges?
